The book gives a detailed overview of ultra-high vacuum systems used in charge particle accelerators with a focus on design and modelling. After a recapitulation of the vacuum requirements the book identifies sources of gas in the vacuum chambers and methods of removing them before dealing with the control of the beam itself and the beam aperture. The last parts focus on the modelling approaches for vacuum chambers under different operating conditions.
