  • Description
As a world religion Christianity has established itself as a dominant feature on the continent of Africa so much so that today no one can doubt that Christianity is truly an African religion alongside African indigenous religions and Islam. Statistics show how Christianity’s centre of gravity has shifted from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere and also to minority groups within the North, such as Blacks, Latinos and indigenous American peoples.

But Africa is not only a continent with growing and creative Christian communities. It is also the poorest region of the world and one ravaged by AIDS, numerous wars and conflicts. This is the drama of Africa’s fragmentation. What kind of Christianity is lived in such situations of fragmentation, misery, suffering and interminable violent conflicts?

There is no shortage of books on Christianity in Africa. The purpose and scope of writing a new book is to revisit the phenomenon of African Christianity, its catholicity, creative dynamism and the challenges it faces today in an age of globalisation.
