  • Description
  • Table of Contents
This book addresses issues of environmental change from an Earth Science perspective. It is designed for students and university courses concerned with environmental issues. It differs from existing texts in that it brings together in a temporal framework the evidence for changes at the Earth's surface provided from geology, geomorphology, hydrology and oceanography, and includes a strong human component. It evaluates the nature and rates of change under natural conditions and the role of human activity in modifying, often accelerating, these rates. It also compares the significance of frequent low magnitude events with infrequent high magnitude events in shaping various environments.

N.B. Orme has substantially revised the outline to take account of Parson's comments.
